7 Reasons to Become a Coach

I remember attending Tony Robbin’s Firewalk Seminar for the first time in 1990, sitting on the front row, so close Tony actually spit on me when he leaned over to talk to the front row.  That night I made a decision that changed my life forever, and it was,  “To wake up every day learning and growing and being surrounded by people who wanted the same.”  That became my purpose in life, and led me into be invited 2 years later to work for Stephen Covey as a Trainer, and a year later to be invited to begin producing seminars for Tony Robbins for over 7 years.  Did you know that coaching is actually what made Tony Robbins the leading motivational “guru” of all time.  Yes, it is where he really got his big start and today he is the leading success coach globally.  Clients pay him a million dollars a year to have access to his coaching.  Imagine having that business template?  There are so many smart reasons to add coaching to your areas of expertise.  Here are a few more. . .

1. See I figured out that Coaching was the best way to get paid and get paid well for continuing education.  I realized that night at Tony’s firewalk that I would continue learning like that for the rest of my life—being a continual student of life.  It made sense to me back then.  Being a coach, whether part time or full time allows you to attend seminars, read books, teach and coach others—and it all falls under your business.

I also realized it was my hobby.  How many of you attend seminars or learn the next new thing because you love to learn?  To combine a hobby I would do anyway with a career helping people and getting paid where there is no financial limit except for the one’s I set upon myself—well it just seemed like a smart business decision.  I actually have clients who pay me between $15,000 and $50,00+ plus a year to keep them on track and accountable to their own success.

3. The best part of coaching is that it creates a natural momentum for you to wake up every day staying 100% focused on your own personal goals, and eliminating the barriers you have—because we all have self-imposed limitations to move out of the way in order to create bigger dreams.  THIS IS THE BEST PART!  Because now you are getting paid to work on yourself—instead of paying thousands of dollars in seminars to work on you.  You now have the tools to “Coach Yourself” and continue to get paid for it.  How amazing is that?  This is truly what is making the coaching industry one of the most compelling new careers, because we all feel great when we are stretching, expanding and going for what makes our heart’s sing. 
   
   
4. You get to set your own schedule.  You get to work out of your house in your pajamas if you want—because you can do all your coaching on the phone.  (I had one new coach tell me,  “But Carolyn I don’t own a pair of pajamas, I sleep in the buff.  Just don’t tell your clients that.”
   
   
5. It is one of the few opportunities where all your past business experience and your life experience can be utilized to help other people move past their fears, limitations and stuck patterns.  So everything that has happened to you in the past—good or bad—can serve to make you an outstanding Coach for others, and I show you how to take either a positive experience or a negative experience to move touch and inspire others to change.
